Why We Should Not Be Cleaning With Chemicals

CAN THE CLEANING CHEMICALS YOU’RE USING TO KEEP YOUR FAMILY HEALTHY ACTUALLY BE MAKING THEM SICK?

Most of us are so accustomed to cleaning with chemicals in our home that we do not even think about why we should not be cleaning with chemicals. Windows, floors, bathtubs/showers, kitchens, and so much more have specified chemical cleaners in every grocery store, so how harmful can they really be?

Environment

Surprisingly, although you are using cleaning chemicals within the walls of your home, they are actually contributing to the air and water pollution that we assume comes from much larger actions than spraying some cleaner on your kitchen counter. Some of the most harmful cleaning chemicals include phosphorus, nitrogen, and ammonia. If you look in your cleaning supplies now, you will most likely find at least one bottle containing each of these. These chemicals, whether used on dirty surfaces, flushed down the drain or thrown into the landfill,  contaminate Mother Earth.  They pollute our land, water and air which then harms plants, animals and people.

Pets

Most unnatural cleaners have the ability to harm pets. The chemicals in the cleaners can make pets of all sizes very sick, especially when they get curious and eat/lick cleaners. Not only that, but cleaners spray further than you realize most of the time. This means that it can easily get into a pet’s food, water, cage, etc. There have been many serious cases in which pets have been brought to a clinic in bad conditions because of chemical cleaners.  Most people whose favorite pet is a bird already know that cleaning the bird cage with chemicals may very well cause their beloved bird to die.

People

Exposure to the chemicals in cleaning products can be harmful to a person’s skin, hair, lungs, stomach, and more. On the surface it can damage and/or dry out skin and hair, while breathing it in or accidentally ingesting it after it comes in contact with food or dishes can do further damage inside the body. These risks are escalated when it comes to children, the elderly, and the sick. There is a reason chemical cleaners have so many hazard warnings on their labels!

This is just scratching the surface when it comes to looking at the damage these chemicals can cause, so be extremely careful when using them!
